Man and woman facing felony drug charges in West Virginia

Felony charges are serious, and can have a negative impact on a person's life. A criminal conviction can impact many different areas of life, such as employment or reputation, even if the sentence does not result in a prison term. Two West Virginia residents are facing drug charges after being accused of planning to deliver drugs at a local jail.

Police claim to have received information about the drop off, including the location and make of the vehicle involved. They proceeded to watch for any such activity and say that the car in question entered the area, then left after a short period. Police later stopped the car, and allegedly recovered various narcotics and a gun. They arrested a man and a woman who were in the vehicle at the time.

The man was charged with possession of the firearm, along with driving on a revoked license. The woman was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. In addition, both individuals were accused of felony conspiracy. A conviction of this nature can be severe, and the two are each likely already conferring with legal counsel with regard to their defenses.

Forming an early and meaningful defense to challenge drug charges can be crucial. When facing a similar situation, many people in West Virginia speak with an experienced attorney for advice about how to proceed. A attorney experienced in criminal law proceedings can examine all evidence against a person and assist in forming a defense strategy to pursue the best overall outcome given the situation.
