West Virginia woman facing felony drug charges after arrest

When an individual is wanted in connection with an alleged crime, evading arrest could increase any suspicion of guilt by the authorities. However, in some cases, a person might be unaware that a warrant for his or her arrest even exists. A woman in West Virginia has recently been arrested and accused of drug charges after allegedly evading authorities for up to six months.

Authorities claim the woman was wanted in connection with an investigation started by the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force. Six months later, they allegedly received an anonymous tip leading them to a local residence, where the woman had apparently taken up residence. She was arrested shortly thereafter, and while bond has been set, she reportedly remains in custody while awaiting court proceedings.

It is unclear how authorities came to suspect her involvement in drug-related activity, and no information regarding any evidence was provided. She is facing felony charges for possession with intent to deliver, which were reportedly filed six months prior to her arrest. Felony drug charges carry severe penalties, and if convicted, she could be facing a lengthy prison term, along with a significant amount in monetary fines.

When facing drug charges, an accused individual might find it advisable to seek counsel early in the process for advice on the best course of action to take moving forward. By speaking with a defense attorney, a client in West Virginia could obtain some much-needed advice on making informed decisions. By thoroughly evaluating the charges and evidence against a client, an attorney can assist in forming a strong defense for use during subsequent legal proceedings.
