Even with normal, everyday traffic, getting to and from work can be a challenge for most people in West Virginia and elsewhere. When motor vehicle accidents occur along commuters' routes, they can shut down major arteries and cause delays that last for hours. Such was the case recently because of a crash on I-79 that affected the morning rush hour.

The accident occurred early in the morning of Monday, Nov. 12, in Roane County and involved two cars. Although details about the crash are scant, reports said the accident caused the interstate to be shut down in both directions between the Amma and Wallback exits. Authorities asked that drivers avoid the area if at all possible.

The crash sent two people to the hospital. At the time of the report, there was no word of their conditions. The cause of the crash was also not disclosed, and authorities are likely still working to determine the cause. One lane of each direction of I-79 was opened after several hours.

Although getting to work late can be a hassle, it hardly compares to what those who suffered injuries in this accident likely experienced. Once authorities identify who was at fault for the collision, those injured reserve the right to pursue civil claims to recoup the damages they incurred if they can prove the other driver acted negligently. This is a right reserved for anyone injured in motor vehicle accidents in West Virginia or anywhere else. Since plaintiffs have to prove negligence on the part of the at-fault driver, they would be best served by retaining the services of a personal injury attorney, who can assess the situation, present the necessary evidence and provide much-needed representation to help them get the compensation they deserve.
